Why do we have so many features?

When we first started writing software for the automotive industry in the late 80's, we found that the solutions that were out there were both limited and expensive.

We wanted a system to help us track our special orders and maintain our parts inventory. The first system we purchased was a Triad. This system was supposed to last for years and within 1 year we had outgrown it. The price tag was 80K and we had to pay 15K more to update it. Back then the Dell 286 computer was the top of the line, and with a dBase III package, we started to create our own solution.

Within 1 year, the Triad was put to the side and we never looked back.

We found that with all the features that the big system had available, the basic needs of our service and parts department were not being met. 

This is where our Swiss Army Knife comes in. Every shop is both different and the same. They all want their software to do specific things, and yet they also want it to do certain things that are unique to their business. 

Our software has the capability of running custom modules that we create or the user can create that interact with our data and appear as menu or toolbar options.
